Hi friends <3
I’ve been doing a lot of work on manifesting lately. I’m currently deeply immersed in Amanda Frances’ Money Mentality Makeover course (no, this isn’t a plug for the course — enrollment is currently closed — but you better believe I’m going to be an affiliate for it next time around. It is life changing.) I’ve learned sooooo much throughout the past few weeks of this course, but there was one major a ha moment that I knew I had to share with you. It has to do with the reason you’re not manifesting what you want.
I used to think, “I want this and this and this and this and this….. Let me just put it out to the Universe and see what happens.” And then I would wait, and get impatient… and then really frustrated when it seemed like the Universe wasn’t delivering.
But here’s the thing. The Universe was delivering all the time. It was delivering exactly what I believed I could have.
In order to call in what I truly wanted, I had to change my mind about what I believed I could have.
Here’s the deal: We’re always manifesting, all of the time. You are already an amazing manifestor. If you want to know where your thoughts and energy lie, just take a look at your external experiences. The experiences we bring into our lives reflect our beliefs about ourselves and what we think we can have.
If you’re always feeling frustrated, you probably believe on some level that life needs to be difficult and frustrating. If your life always feels chaotic, you’re probably playing an internal dialogue about why your life has to be chaotic. If you’re never quite happy, is there an underlying belief you’ve been telling yourself as to why you can’t or don’t deserve to be happy? (That was the case for me.)
What I came to realize is that I could state my desires to the Universe all day long, but if wasn’t doing the underlying work to change my beliefs about what I could allow into my life, then my manifestations weren’t ever going to change. So I would get pieces of what I was trying to manifest, or it just wouldn’t come at all because I wasn’t doing the deep work to uncover and unearth the negative beliefs that were telling me I couldn’t have the thing that I wanted. OR I wasn’t acknowledging the fears I still had around drawing in the thing that I wanted. (That can happen too.) When I got honest with myself, sometimes I still thought, “Omg, what if I actually get the thing that I want? Can I really handle it? Am I really ready for that?” Talk about sending mixed messages to the Universe!
By being willing to go to the root of my limiting belief system and change my limiting beliefs, I have been able to change my mind. I am now able to manifest at a greater level because I believe I can receive at that level. Make sense?
And just to be clear, it’s not about the Universe playing games with us, or holding out until we “figure out” how to receive what we want. We are literally manifesting what we believe we can or cannot have. The Universe is simply a mirror that reflects back to us our internal state. Got it?
So in order to change our experiences we have to be willing change our minds. We have to be willing to change our beliefs about ourselves and what we are capable of / deserving of / etc, etc.
And I’ll be the first to acknowledge that it’s deep, deep work, but it’s SO worth it.
The following exercise helped me get to the root of some major limiting beliefs that were messing with my manifesting mojo. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
Get still and ask yourself, “What do I want?”
Notice what kind of thoughts come up in your mind that say you can’t have what you want and write them down. What sensations arise in your body?
If there’s a limiting belief or fear, explore it a little further. Journal it out, or just talk it out. Get honest. Let the feelings come up and move through you.
Then, be willing to change your mind. Say, “I recognize that I am feeling ____ and it is creating _____. I am willing to see this differently.” Then ask to be led and expect miraculous shifts. Do your part and allow the Universe to do the rest.
You may have to repeat this exercise multiple times, especially if a limiting belief runs deep. Keep working it. Let me know how it goes!
